KMFA and Louis Shanks Furniture are excited to present the return of Art & Design, a program that pairs local and regional artists with designers to create a custom gallery in the showroom inside Louis Shanks Furniture. Art & Design shows the art to the viewer in a natural setting as it might appear in a home or in an office.

We invite you to the Art & Design gallery opening featuring artist Richie Deegan and interior designer Judy Daffer on Thursday, November 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Louis Shanks Furniture. Enjoy light bites and sips by Tito's Handmade Vodka, Milam & Greene Bourbon, and Chawar Agave Spirit, as well as a performance by Justice Phillips from Austin Classical Guitar. 

About Richie Deegan, Artist

In Deegan's rich imagery, landscapes and people play a requisite role. He mixes the spiritual, mystical and dreamlink with the routine and his everyday emotional experiences. His paintings mostly come from his exposure to a thriving and worldly existence of excess and the sadness, introspection and vulneralbility he is left with as a result. Studying Deegan's paintings can be likened to standing before a precipice, you are made to feel small in their presence while at the same time you are at one and at peace and sometimes part of the story there within.

About Judy Daffer, Interior Designer

Daffer received her degree in Business Marketing from the University of Texas in 1983. She has worked in the interior design industry since 2015 - mainly focused on residential furnishings and accessories. She has done many projects including home remodels, kitchens, bathrooms, wine cellars, and several complete commerical office remodels including new furniture.

About Justice Phillips, Austin Classical Guitar

Phillips began playing guitar in 6th grade at Fulmore, now Lively Middle School. He was part of some of Austin Classical Guitar's first education programs in schools, and has now come full circle to become Box Office/Patrons Services Director & Composer. Justice attended high school at McCallum Fine Arts Academy, playing guitar under Andrew Clark, while taking private lessons with Dr. Steve Kostelnik. After high school, he attended the University of Texas before graduating in 2018 with a degree in Music Composition and Classical Guitar.
